AI engineer, author, and patent attorney to steer firm’s AI, intelligent automation, and digital transformation roadmap
Electrosoft today announced that Thomas Plunkett has joined the company as Director of Technology and Innovation. Plunkett will oversee the integration of AI capabilities with enterprise applications, cybersecurity tools, cloud platforms, and customer environments. He will also serve as a technology advisor to customers, partners, and internal leaders.
"AI is changing how our federal customers defend their missions, and they need a partner who can separate what works from what is hype," said Dr. Sarbari Gupta, CEO of Electrosoft. "Thomas has built AI systems, defended the intellectual property behind them, and taught others how they work. He will help shape our technology roadmap and open new opportunities for growth."
Plunkett is an AI engineer, author, and patent attorney with extensive experience with the U.S. federal government, Oracle, and IBM. He spent more than 15 years at Oracle, where he served as Senior Principal Engineer, Consulting Solutions Director, and Principal Architect. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, he most recently presented "Agentic AI and Cybersecurity" at the 2026 National Cyber Summit on Sept. 23. The session used the OpenAI autonomous agent incident at Hugging Face as a case study in the security controls and governance needed to manage AI agents. He also won first place at the 2026 NVIDIA GTC Hack to Create hackathon in San Jose.
"Federal customers need AI they can trust, and that starts with security and governance built in from day one," said Plunkett. "I look forward to working with the Electrosoft team to turn emerging technology into dependable solutions, with data privacy and cybersecurity foundational to everything we develop and deploy."
Plunkett holds eight NVIDIA professional certifications, including in Agentic AI, Generative AI, and Accelerated Data Science. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Patent Bar, and previously practiced patent law in San Francisco. A published author, Plunkett has taught graduate computer science courses for Virginia Tech and Harrisburg University. He has a B.A. and J.D. from George Mason University, an M.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, and an M.S. in Blockchain and Digital Currencies from the University of Nicosia. He also holds Stanford University graduate certificates in Cybersecurity and Management Science and has completed graduate courses in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from the University of Colorado Boulder.
