Sarbari Gupta speaks about Identity Federation at the 8th Symposium on Identity and Trust on the Internet (IDtrust 2009) April 16, 2009

Dr. Sarbari Gupta, President of Electrosoft, spoke at the 8th Symposium on Identity and Trust on the Internet ( IDtrust 2009), held between April 14-16, 2009 at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD.

Dr. Gupta's paper and presentation was entitled "Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Cards as Federated Identities - Challenges and Opportunities." The presentation discussed the hurdles in establishing federated identities embodied within strong identity tokens such as PIV-I (Personal Identity Verification - Interoperable) Cards issued by the organizations other than executive branch federal agencies. The presentation went on to provide concrete recommendations to improve trust in federated identities across federal, state and commercial sectors through the use of judicious policy and assurance management techniques.

IDtrust is devoted to research and deployment experience related to making good security decisions based on identity information, especially when public key cryptography is used and the human elements of usability are considered. In addition to peer-reviewed papers, IDtrust facilitates discussions among panels of invited experts and symposium participants. This symposium was known as the PKI R&D Workshop from 2002-2007.
