Electrosoft Services to present at the CSI 28th Annual Conference in October 2001.

Dr. Sarbari Gupta, co-founder and President of Electrosoft, will present at the Computer Security Institute 28th Annual Conference at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, between October 29-31. See the CSI 28th Annual Computer Security Conference website for more details. Dr. Gupta will be speaking at the session "Relying Party Reliance on Server-Based PKI Validation: on Tuesday, October 30, 2001.

The abstract of this talk is given below:

"Public key infrastructures offer significant benefits in online environments where authentication, confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation are important. However, a major hurdle in the widespread deployment of PKI has been the difficulty of developing and validating the current status of certificate paths within non-trivial trust architectures. In this presentation, we explore the benefits and drawbacks of using server-based solutions for PKI path development and validation. We delve into the emerging standards in this area, such as Delegated Path Development (DPD), Delegated Path Validation (DPV), and Simple Certificate Validation Protocol (SCVP), and highlight the usage environments where such solutions are advantageous."

"We also propose creative techniques for optimizing the most difficult components of certificate path development and validation. These techniques build upon existing standards and protocols, and provide powerful mechanisms to make PKI usable in real-world applications running in typical organizations with the typical constraints of budget, time, and computing power."
